Using Sony Vegas, PodPress and WordPress to Publish a Podcast

Quite a few listeners to Five Minutes with Jack have been asking exactly how you get a podcast into a wordpress post so it will work well with your feed, itunes, etc. I use PodPress and this video shows me taking a show, quickly editing it with Sony Vegas and publishing it.  If you want to watch it on YouTube just go to Using PodPress to Publish a Podcast with WordPress

    Hey Jack!..which version of Sony Vista do you use? On EBAY they have some that are $50 and some that are as high as $500..which to get if I want to use?

      Well consider buying via my banner please. LOL basically I have Vegas Pro 11 which is the high end full featured suite. That is the 500 dollar plus version. Unless you do really serious video work then Vegas Movie Studio HD is probably all you need. You can get it direct from Sony for 44.95. That said are you doing audio, video or both. If you can tell me what you are looking to do I can better advise you. Like if you are an audio only guy Sound Forge is likely a better fit. I am looking into it for myself. Even though I can edit anything in Vegas it may do better at recording than audacity.

    Wow, great information Jack! Quick question…I think in one of your podcasts you mentioned using your iPhone for recording, can you tell me which app you use and are you just using the mic on the earbuds or something else? Thanks so much!

      I really don’t like using the iphone I just was using “voice memo” but I went back to what worked before. I know use a Sony ICD-PX312 to record with. I think the quality is outstanding. I use an inexpensive Logitech Headset to record with. The Sony ICD Recorder comes with some software called “sound organizer” which I just threw away and never installed. You just hook it to your PC with a usb cable (included) and drag and drop, it is even a nifty little mp3 player as well.

      Yes I am and I have to say with a 23 inch monitor I am no longer in love with the results. I have to set the screen area and re-size everything based on the final output size and I am still not really happy with the quality.

      I think it would look better if I just put the camera on a tripod and pointed it at the screen. I am going to keep playing with it.

        I’ve been playing around with some software which is limited but works well enough to get the point across (MS Expression Screen Capture)and then use Expression Encoder. I think I got it free, or it may have come with my Old MS Expression Suite.. I forget. Firefox has a free screen capture plugin, but it is kind of ‘buggy’.

    Hi. I’m new to the world of video editing and just looking to move up a notch from the crappy Movie maker that comes free with windows. I have issues with it frequently crashing. I know Sony Vegas Pro is your recommendation, but rather than spend the $600 now, I was looking at purchasing the MoviEZHD for $45.(linking to purchase from your banner of course ;) Does anyone have an opinion or comment before I purchase? Thank you.
